Czech Restaurant
The restaurant is operated by GASTRO INVEST INTERNACIONAL, a company with extensive international experience. Its sister company ran the restaurant at the Czech Pavilion during the previous EXPO 2020 in Dubai, where it received an award for the most popular sky-bar of the EXPO.
The restaurant’s concept also draws on the expertise of chefs from the “old guard,” whose recipes pay tribute to the menu of the Czechoslovak Pavilion at EXPO 1970 – also held in Osaka.
The kitchen is run by top chefs from the Czech Association of Chefs and Confectioners, including rising young talents.
The culinary concept of the Czech restaurant was created under the curatorial direction of chef Tomáš Reger and offers a cross-section of Czech cuisine, refined with elegance inspired by Asian traditions. The result is a menu that respects local tastes – dishes are not overly heavy or rich, yet still deliver the full experience of classic Czech flavors.
The common thread throughout the menu is the dumpling – whether in its traditional Czech form or as an Asian bao – and other Czech classics. One of the most popular dishes is the bao with pulled duck and red cabbage, often paired with a pint of Pilsner Urquell.
The main beer partner of the Czech Pavilion is the world-famous Pilsner Urquell. In the restaurant, Japanese bartenders – specially trained in Plzeň under the guidance of brewmasters – serve perfectly poured pints, including hladinka, šnyt, and mlíko. They learned not only the art of Czech beer pouring but also the history of this iconic lager, before testing their skills in real Czech pubs.
The premium wines on the menu come from the THAYA winery – one of the most renowned names on the contemporary Czech wine scene.
THAYA wines have earned numerous awards at national and international competitions, including top honors at the Czechias’s premier wine contest, the Wine Salon.
A special place on the drink menu is reserved for traditional fruit spirits from RUDOLF JELÍNEK – a brand with over 400 years of experience in distilling.
The selection includes the iconic five-year-old kosher slivovitz, juniper spirit (borovička), apricot brandy, or cherry liqueur.
The porcelain service is provided by Thun 1794, the largest porcelain manufacturer in Czechia.
On the restaurant tables, you'll find the iconic Bernadotte set – elegant white porcelain adorned with blue flowers – alongside the minimalist ELLA collection in timeless white.
The tableware is complemented by hand-blown glassware from Květná 1794, one of the oldest glassworks in Czechia.
Harrachov Glassworks, known for decorating royal interiors worldwide, designed a special collection of glasses for the restaurant.
The restaurant’s table setting is further enhanced by cutlery from the traditional Czech brand TONER, which is part of the ABNER company. Thanks to them, dining becomes an authentic experience infused with Czech tradition – whether it’s a casual lunch, a formal reception, or a business meeting.
