Pilsner Urquell is a legendary Czech brewery and the founder of the pilsner beer style, which today dominates global beer production. A perfectly poured beer symbolizes over 180 years of Czech craftsmanship tradition.
www.prazdroj.czPilsner Urquell is the beer that changed the brewing world and gave rise to the most widespread beer category, which now accounts for 70% of global beer production. The first batch of this iconic lager was brewed in Pilsen in 1842, and since then, its unique taste has won over beer lovers worldwide.
The secret to its success lies in its original recipe, traditional brewing methods, and carefully selected ingredients – hops, soft Pilsen water, and a special malt. These elements ensure a distinctive taste that has remained unchanged for more than 180 years.
Throughout its history, Pilsner Urquell has gained an exceptional reputation both in Czechia and abroad. Shortly after its creation, it was exported to neighbouring countries, and in 1873, it reached the United States. Today, Pilsner Urquell is one of the leading breweries in Central Europe, exporting to more than 50 countries worldwide.
Pilsner beer has inspired the world and is the result of Czech creativity and the dedication of many talented people.
Zdeněk Kovář, Spokesperson of Pilsner Urquell
Pilsner Urquell is the official beer partner of the Czech National Pavilion, offering visitors the opportunity to taste an authentic Pilsner lager at the highest quality. The Czech restaurant will provide an experience cantered around one of the greatest treasures of Czech culture – beer.
Visitors will have a unique opportunity to enjoy Pilsner Urquell as it is meant to be served –perfectly poured into a glass by Japanese bartenders who have undergone intensive training in Pilsen. Under the guidance of master brewers, they have not only learned the art of pouring but have also gained insight into the brewery’s history and beer-making principles. They have also trained in Czech restaurants to ensure that visitors to EXPO 2025 receive an authentic experience on par with the best Czech pubs. An estimated 3,000 beers are poured daily at the restaurant.
As part of the Pilsner Urquell presentation, there will also be an interactive beer-pouring school where visitors can learn how to pour hladinka, šnyt, or mlíko. This program allows people not only to taste exceptional beer but also to learn how to pour it correctly and understand why the creamy wet foam is so important.
