Trees Grow from the Sky

2022 Cast glass 205 x 75 x 75 cmThe monumental sculpture Trees Grow from the Sky by sculptor and designer Rony Plesl opens the exhibition in front of the pavilion’s entrance. The constellation of crystal trees alludes to the thesis of complementarity between human and nature. The larger-than-life pure crystal trunks are a true imprint of live trees. The perfection of their bark accentuates the haptic character of the material while their luminous and translucent surface invites us to look into ourselves.

The work was originally created for Biennale Arte 2022 in Venice. The eponymous exhibition held at the Renaissance church of Santa Maria della Visitazione was presented as a Collateral Event of the official program and was seen by one hundred and fifty thousand visitors during the seven months of its duration.
