Czechia will take part in the international EXPO exhibition in Belgrade next year. The event has a budget of CZK 120 million, and preparations will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (ANO) said after a government meeting on Monday, March 9, 2026.

According to Havlíček, Serbia is an exceptionally important trading partner for Czechia outside the European Union. “Given that it starts in a year, we are already short on time. We have approved a budget of CZK 120 million. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has been entrusted with the preparations, including within the allocated budget, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also cooperate,” said Havlíček.

The specialized EXPO 2027 exhibition will take place in Belgrade next year, scheduled from May 15 to August 15, 2027. It will not be classified as a World Expo, but as an international exhibition, similar to EXPO 2017, which was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Likewise, a horticultural EXPO 2027 will also be held next year in Yokohama, Japan. A World Expo (so-called “Large Expo”) is being prepared by Riyadh for 2030. The most recent World Expo of this category took place last year in Osaka.

According to documents from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the previous government, the Belgrade exhibition is expected to cover an area of 250 hectares. Due to the nature of the exhibition, the space for each pavilion will be limited to 1,000 square meters, and pavilions will not be allowed to have more than one floor.
