During Japan’s Golden Week—a holiday period spanning late April to early May—the Czech National Pavilion will come alive with tourism and cultural events, inviting visitors to discover Czechia. The Tokyo branch of CzechTourism, the official Czech tourism authority, will host a special event titled: “Czechia – A Modern and Sustainable Destination Rich in Cultural Heritage.” The Tourism Week will take place from Saturday, May 3 to Tuesday, May 6, 2025, typically from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Visitors can look forward to a variety of attractions, including a theatrical performance of Audience by Czechia’s first president, Václav Havel, and a special appearance by Leo Maru, CzechTourism’s mascot in Japan, who will meet René, the mascot of Czechia’s participation at EXPO 2025.
The Central Bohemian and Liberec Regions will will take part in this Tourism Week. The Central Bohemian Region will present the phenomenal video game experience “Kingdom Come: Deliverance Live”, where visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the scenery of 15th-century Bohemia—the setting of the Czech RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (released on February 5, 2025)—along with mini-games inspired by the title.
In addition, the event will feature Musyokutabi, a popular YouTuber with 150,000 subscribers and a Czech Goodwill Ambassador, who will host two daily talk shows, sharing stories and impressions based on his personal experiences with the program.
From the Liberec Region, which is renowned throughout Czechia for its glassmaking tradition, the RAUTIS workshop will be featured. RAUTIS is a registered UNESCO intangible cultural heritage holder for its production of traditional blown glass bead Christmas ornaments. The workshop will offer hands-on ornament-making sessions for visitors.
Every day from 4:00 PM, visitors can enjoy a diverse cultural program showcasing Czech culture—including the original puppet show “Levmaru's Czech Theatre”, a performance of “Audience” (by Václav Havel, the first President of the Czechia) by students from the Department of Czech Studies at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), and a concert by the the Riva Festival Choir and String Ensemble.
The Czech Goodwill Ambassadors will also host travel talk shows, sharing the charm of Czechia as a travel destination along with useful travel tips.
A detailed program schedule will be released soon on the official Instagram account of CzechTourism Japan, as well as on the official Czech Pavilion app (available in Japanese, English, and Czech).
