The Czech National Pavilion at the World EXPO 2025 hosted TEDOM Day, showcasing another prominent company with Czech roots. Founded in Třebíč in 1991, TEDOM built its first combined heat and power unit using a modified Škoda car engine. From a small regional business, the company has grown into a global player in the field of modern energy. Today, it is part of the Japanese YANMAR Group, which enables it to strengthen its international presence and deliver innovative, sustainable solutions to customers worldwide.
During a professional conference, TEDOM presented its technologies and services to potential business partners as well as the expert community. The spotlight was on combined heat and power (CHP) units – a technology that enables the simultaneous production of electricity and heat from a single fuel source. With an efficiency of up to 97%, they save both energy and the environment, representing a crucial step toward decarbonization and energy independence.
The conference was opened by the Commissioner General of Czech participation at EXPO 2025, Ondřej Soška, who emphasized the importance of showcasing Czech technological talent on the global stage: "TEDOM is a great example of how Czech creativity and innovation can grow into global success. I am glad that our pavilion in Osaka presents not only culture but also business, demonstrating what our – though small – country is capable of. A company that began in a small Czech town is now contributing to the worldwide transformation towards sustainable energy," said Soška.
The goal of the presentation was to strengthen business cooperation and expand operations in one of the world’s most promising energy markets. TEDOM has been active in Japan since 2014, when it installed its first CENTO unit. Today, around sixty of these systems are in operation across the country.
TEDOM CEO Ladislav Zeman then highlighted the company’s journey and emphasized the importance of its partnership with YANMAR: "I am pr oud that at EXPO we can showcase our CHP units and TEDOM’s cutting-edge technologies, developed and manufactured in Czechia. It is a great opportunity to present our path toward decarbonization, more sustainable and efficient energy production, and the benefits of decentralized energy," said Zeman.
Headquartered in Czechia and supported by the YANMAR Group, whose global headquarters is located in Osaka, TEDOM continues to advance technologies shaping the future of energy. The company ranks among the fastest-growing electricity and gas providers in Czechia. With its own research center and production plant, where it manufactures engines for its CHP units, TEDOM can tailor products to the specific needs of its customers. It offers a full cycle of services – from design, manufacturing, and installation to servicing, monitoring, and operational support – ensuring complete control over the quality and performance of its solutions.
Today, TEDOM’s portfolio extends beyond CHP units to include engines, photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and heat pumps, with new developments focusing on hydrogen-based solutions – the fuel of the future. In addition to production, the company also provides energy consulting, audits, and asset management.
The name “TEDOM = warmth of home” has, for more than thirty years, faithfully reflected the company’s mission: to deliver sustainable, reliable, and innovative energy solutions while actively contributing to the global transition toward carbon-free energy.
"The event we organized at the Czech National Pavilion met our expectations in every aspect. Everything went smoothly, with excellent support and organization from the entire Czech team," concluded Evžen Chlanda, Group Marketing Director at TEDOM.
