The World EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, will begin on April 13, 2025. This means that the first visitors will pass through the entrance gates of the Yumeshima Island site in exactly 900 days.

On this occasion, the EXPO organisers released a video with the first visualisations of the future site. The nearly two-minute spot takes viewers on a tour of the Expo site, including the world's largest wooden structure, the Great Roof Ring, and the Signature Pavilions, which stretch out beyond the Forest of Tranquility (the Green World), and Water World.

EXPO 2025 will be held on the artificial island of Yumeshima, covering an area of approximately 390 hectares. Yumeshima began to be built in the second half of the 1970s from gravel and sand generated at construction sites within the city. The organisers expect to use an area of about 1.55 square kilometres. The island is located to the south-west of Maishima Island, at the westernmost end of the city of Osaka, in the so-called Osaka Bay area.

This area is home to one of the largest container terminals in Japan with routes connecting to major ports around the world and offers exceptional highway and road access to the entire Kansai region, whether heading to the city centre, Kansai International Airport, Kyoto or Kobe. The organisers of the World EXPO want to make the most of the convenient connection between land, water and air.

With the exception of the two container terminals and the logistics centre, most of Yumeshima is unoccupied. However, preparatory work is currently underway for the construction of the site for EXPO 2025.
