A ceremonial event was held at the square near the East Gate, attended by the Secretary General of the EXPO, Ishige Hiroyuki, along with the official mascot of the World EXPO, MYAKU-MYAKU. The five millionth visitor received a commemorative gift, including a night ticket allowing entry to the venue during evening hours.

The origins of World EXPOs date back to 1851 with the Great Exhibition in London, which showcased the achievements of the 19th-century Industrial Revolution. It went on to inspire a series of similar events around the world and laid the foundation for a tradition that continues today at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

More than 160 countries, regions, and organizations are participating in EXPO 2025. Among the attractions are Martian meteorites, flying cars, and a beating artificial heart grown from stem cells.

Standing out among the pavilions is the Czech National Pavilion, themed Talent and Creativity for Life, which has drawn considerable interest and attention from visitors — from its architectural design and mascot René to the visitor journey and a culinary experience featuring Czech cuisine with an Asian twist. Also worth noting is its exceptional location by the waterfront promenade and a rooftop offering panoramic views of the entire site.

Osaka is hosting a World EXPO for the second time — the first took place in 1970, where visitors saw the world’s first IMAX projection, mobile phone prototypes, and samples of lunar rock. This year’s EXPO 2025 is being held on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay and will run until 13 October 2025. By the end of May alone, over 12 million tickets had already been sold, and the number continues to rise. The organizers aim to welcome 23 million visitors over the course of six months.
