Since this morning, the Bridge of Nations has been operating by the Singing Fountain in Mariánské Lázně, Chebsko — a two-way video stream linking the spa town with the EXPO 2025 site in Osaka, Japan, Mayor Martin Hurajčík (ANO) told ČTK. The screen will connect the two cities for two weeks.
“It’s a large screen with a camera on both sides, allowing people to exchange greetings, wave at each other, or send messages. It gives a live view of what’s happening at EXPO 2025 in Osaka,” said mayor. The two-week operation of the screen will cost the town approximately CZK 20,000. It is located by the Singing Fountain in front of the Mariánské Lázně colonnade. On the other side, the Bridge of Nations camera faces the area in front of the Czech Pavilion at the World EXPO.
Mayor Hurajčík visited EXPO and was inspired by the project, which led him to bring it to Mariánské Lázně. “EXPO 2025 will eventually end, but we’re considering keeping a similar live video link with other interesting cities, whether in Europe or elsewhere in the world, following the example of other major cities. But that’s just an idea for now,” he added.
The screen in the spa town operates from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, which corresponds to 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Japan due to the seven-hour time difference
