The brand Jan Černý Jan Société becomes the official fashion partner of the Czech National Pavilion at EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan. Černý and his team will design special uniforms for the entire Czech Pavilion, including the restaurant staff and management. During the World Expo, the pavilion will also host a presentation of the Jan Société brand, and a limited edition of products designed exclusively for EXPO 2025 will be available in the gift shop. The collaboration agreement was signed with the Czech Commissioner General Ondřej Soška at a press conference in Prague on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. The official presentation of the uniform design will take place in the first half of March.
"I feel a great responsibility, as I am representing contemporary Czech fashion at EXPO. At the same time, I feel immense pride and have high expectations for the success of the Czech Pavilion. I think this year's pavilion is incredibly well-executed, and I believe my uniforms, which will be worn by all the staff and management, will complement it perfectly," says designer Jan Černý about his collaboration. He adds: "I am especially excited about the connection with Japanese culture; it will be an opportunity for both me and my brand to explore new territory, new markets, and at the same time represent Czechia. During my research and design process, I discovered how our cultures intersect, and it's certainly an exciting project!"
According to Černý, Japan has always been, and continues to be, a fashion powerhouse, influencing global fashion since the 20th century, when Japanese designers brought minimalism and deconstructivism to Paris, showing the world how these styles could be expressed. This groundbreaking fashion has endured and continues to inspire many designers today, drawing from the masters of Japanese fashion.
"The theme of Czech participation is Talent and Creativity for Life. I am very glad that we can collaborate with young, talented professionals with global renown, like Jan Černý, to help represent Czechia more than 10,000 kilometers from home. Our participation in Japan has attracted significant interest from the very beginning of preparations due to our innovative pavilion. We are excited to see the reactions to the uniforms," comments Ondřej Soška, Czech Commissioner General.

About the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2025 In December 2022, after more than twenty years, the Office of the Commissioner General announced an open, anonymous architectural competition to design the National Pavilion for EXPO 2025. Thirty-eight studios have participated, and in March 2023 a jury of experts led by the world-renowned architect Eva Jiřičná selected the winning design: a glass spiral by Apropos Architects. The main structure of the building will be made of modern wood panels, while the façade will feature art glass, which has a centuries-old tradition in Czechia. The National Pavilion, which will be located on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay from April to October 2025, will provide a prestigious setting for Czech participation at EXPO 2025. The pavilion will house a permanent exhibition, a multifunctional auditorium, facilities for business meetings, restaurants, a CTP lounge, and a relaxation area overlooking the sea.
About the Czech participation at EXPO 2025 This will be the sixth time that Czechia has taken part in a world exhibition as an independent state. Ondřej Soška, who won the Ministry of Foreign Affairs selection process with his concept and theme "Talent and Creativity for Life", has been serving as Commissioner General since September 2022. Czechia aims to showcase not only what the Japanese already know and admire, such as Czech glass and classical music, but above all Czech innovations, nanotechnologies, promising start-ups and talent from the regions.
