The Czech participation at EXPO 2025 marks a key collaboration with the Czech security and telecommunications company 2N Telecommunications, the developer of the world's first IP intercom. The Czech National Pavilion will thus represent the best of Czechia, even in its functional elements. Using innovative security systems, the company will ensure the highest level of security without disrupting the minimalist design of the wood-glass structure of the pavilion. The cooperation agreement was signed on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, by the Czech Commissioner General Ondřej Soška, and the CEO of 2N Michal Kratochvíl.
2N Telecommunications will equip 50 doors to the administrative and shared spaces of the Czech National Pavilion with its access control units. These will ensure security and convenient access not only for visitors but also for the pavilion staff, who will need only a mobile phone to move around the pavilion. Additionally, 2N will provide entrance intercoms for the main entrances and supply access points. "We are very pleased to be part of this prestigious event, which represents not only technological but also cultural connection between nations. Our main goal is to showcase the advanced capabilities of our IP access technologies through our cooperation at EXPO 2025, which combine security, ease of use, and flexibility," says Michal Kratochvíl, CEO of 2N Telecommunications, and adds: "The Japanese market is extremely interesting to us due to its focus on innovation, and we believe that our solutions will be beneficial not only for the Czech National Pavilion but also for other projects around the world."
2N is a successful exporter to over a hundred countries worldwide and has recently expanded successfully into other European markets, solidifying its position as a leading Czech company with global potential. EXPO 2025 represents a unique opportunity for the company to showcase its cutting-edge technologies not only to a Japanese audience. The Japanese market, known for its technological advancements, offers a unique opportunity for the expansion of advanced IP access systems that replace the still widespread analogue technologies. The company plans to bring solutions to this market that offer higher security, flexibility, and easy integration with modern systems. In addition, 2N's products support the highly popular home automation in Japan, allowing customers to control various systems such as lighting, heating, or appliances directly from their mobile phones.
"In the Czech National Pavilion, we want to showcase the best of our country – from art and innovations to products and technologies from Czech companies, including global leaders like 2N. Despite its worldwide success, 2N remains strongly connected to its Czech roots. We are proud that the Czech pavilion will add to the list of significant places where 2N technologies ensure security, such as the home of George Lucas, the creator of the iconic Star Wars, or the Formula 1 racetrack in Spa, Belgium," says Ondřej Soška, the Czech Commissioner General at EXPO 2025.
An intercom is a communication device typically placed at entry doors or other areas (such as parking lots, garages, etc.) that controls access to a space. A person attempting to enter must either present a valid authentication method (such as through a mobile app or PIN code) or use the intercom to call the relevant person inside, who, through visual verification, will confirm their identity and allow them to enter. IP intercoms enable two-way voice (or video) communication through a network using the Internet Protocol (IP).
About 2N Telecommunications 2N is a global leader in IP access systems, providing a high level of entry security for residential and commercial buildings, hotels, and schools. The company was founded in 1991 in Prague, where a group of engineers began working on projects that significantly influenced the access systems market. In 2008, the company solidified its position as a pioneer by introducing the world's first IP intercom, followed by the first LTE intercom. Since 2016, 2N has been part of the international Axis Group. Cybersecurity plays a key role in the development of all 2N products. 2N's modern solutions provide easy yet reliable access to buildings through its proprietary Wavekey technology, which enables automatic door unlocking simply by bringing a smartphone close. 2N products are also known for their combination of top-quality and modern design, which has earned the company numerous prestigious awards, such as the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Awards.
About the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2025 In December 2022, after more than twenty years, the Office of the Commissioner General announced an open, anonymous architectural competition to design the National Pavilion for EXPO 2025. Thirty-eight studios have participated, and in March 2023 a jury of experts led by the world-renowned architect Eva Jiřičná selected the winning design: a glass spiral by Apropos Architects. The main structure of the building will be made of modern wood panels, while the façade will feature art glass, which has a centuries-old tradition in Czechia. The National Pavilion, which will be located on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay from April to October 2025, will provide a prestigious setting for Czech participation at EXPO 2025. The pavilion will house a permanent exhibition, a multifunctional auditorium, facilities for business meetings, restaurants, a CTP lounge, and a relaxation area overlooking the sea.
About the Czech participation at EXPO 2025 This will be the sixth time that Czechia has taken part in a world exhibition as an independent state. Ondřej Soška, who won the Ministry of Foreign Affairs selection process with his concept and theme "Talent and Creativity for Life", has been serving as Commissioner General since September 2022. Czechia aims to showcase not only what the Japanese already know and admire, such as Czech glass and classical music, but above all Czech innovations, nanotechnologies, promising start-ups and talent from the regions.
