The biggest business and cultural event of the year, EXPO 2025 in Osaka, Japan, is approaching, and Czechia’s participation is introducing something special for the youngest audience. The popular children's music duo Karol & Kvído presents a catchy song, René and Karol Are Going to EXPO, dedicated to inventions introduced at past world exhibitions and their creators. The song was created in collaboration with Petra Čiháková, a coordinator of creative education in schools and the author of the Books a Little Differently project, aiming to introduce children to the significance of EXPO and Czech talent and creativity. The music was composed by Jacob Růžička, with lyrics written by Karolina Neuvirthová and Tomáš Dvořák
The song and music video bring not only a joyful atmosphere but also an educational element. They introduce groundbreaking inventions first unveiled at World EXPOs that have since become part of our everyday lives—such as the telephone, X-ray, elevator, and touchscreens. Through a playful approach, Karol & Kvído combine music with science and the history of innovation.
"We asked ourselves how to best explain EXPO to children. The idea came to us through inventions they already know. Every child is familiar with the telephone, dishwasher, or the Eiffel Tower, but few realize that the Eiffel Tower was built for EXPO in Paris or that the dishwasher was first introduced at an EXPO with the goal of quickly spreading it as a new technology worldwide," says singer and producer Karolina Neuvirthová.
"The overarching theme of this year's EXPO is Designing Future Society for Our Lives, but I believe that, in reality, we are shaping the future primarily for our children. That’s why we’ve made sure our pavilion includes them, and we want them to feel like they are part of EXPO. I hope our new song will inspire many of them to dream big. After all, children are our future, and perhaps one day, they will be the creators of world-changing inventions showcased at future World EXPOs," says Ondřej Soška, Commissioner General of Czechia’s participation in EXPO 2025.
Karol will perform live at EXPO 2025 in Japan! Karolina Neuvirthová will present not only this song but also other popular tracks in their English versions. These songs were carefully selected for the world exhibition to engage an international audience and introduce Czech children’s music to visitors from around the globe. The performance is part of a broader educational initiative connecting schools across Czechia. As part of this project, additional interactive learning materials have been created to help children discover Czech culture and creativity. The inspiration for creating an official song and music video came from the organizers of EXPO 2025 themselves, who introduced their own official theme song and dance choreography back in 2023.

About the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2025 In December 2022, after more than twenty years, the Office of the Commissioner General announced an open, anonymous architectural competition to design the National Pavilion for EXPO 2025. Thirty-eight studios have participated, and in March 2023 a jury of experts led by the world-renowned architect Eva Jiřičná selected the winning design: a glass spiral by Apropos Architects. The main structure of the building will be made of modern wood panels, while the façade will feature art glass, which has a centuries-old tradition in Czechia. The National Pavilion, which will be located on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay from April to October 2025, will provide a prestigious setting for Czech participation at EXPO 2025. The pavilion will house a permanent exhibition, a multifunctional auditorium, facilities for business meetings, restaurants, a CTP lounge, and a relaxation area overlooking the sea.
About the Czech participation at EXPO 2025 This will be the sixth time that Czechia has taken part in a world exhibition as an independent state. Ondřej Soška, who won the Ministry of Foreign Affairs selection process with his concept and theme "Talent and Creativity for Life", has been serving as Commissioner General since September 2022. Czechia aims to showcase not only what the Japanese already know and admire, such as Czech glass and classical music, but above all Czech innovations, nanotechnologies, promising start-ups and talent from the regions.
